I read the latest book by Bill Belichick on leadership success. One of the more important aspects of success is being able to say, “I f’ed that up.” He says that he does that routinely as the head coach, and it filters down to the entire organization.
Mistakes are part of the game. Taking responsibility for mistakes fosters a mindset of learning from them.
The advice seems apropos for couples as well. Imagine both individuals taking responsibility when they make a mistake. Look out for your mistakes and own them. Make “I f’ed that up” part of your relationship.
