In our couples counseling session, Anthony talked about feeling distressed. When his wife Trisha inquired, he shared that his co-worker’s father recently went missing. This followed the co-worker’s wife dying recently.
Anthony cared about his coworker of two decades and could only imagine the pain his friend was feeling. He said to Trisha that he would typically forge on with situations like this, but really wanted to share it with Trisha. Trisha said she wanted him to share. Anthony knew she’d probably be the only person with whom he would do so. Anthony’s vulnerability with Trisha brought them closer.
