Couples are always going to have differences. It’s the nature of relationships. Individuals have varying backgrounds, values, needs and desires. The problem is not that couples have these differences, but instead escalate when attempting to work through these differences.
There is a myth that is normal to fight in relationships. Instead, it is normal to have differences in relationships. If a discussion of these differences spirals out-of-control, and a fight ensues, the fight isn’t normal. It’s the result of poor communication.
